The Process Of Making A Best Man Wedding Speech
Thursday, January 28th, 2010Why should you write best man wedding speech when you can just buy it online? There are a couple of reasons.
For one, pre-prepared speeches, no matter how excellently made, can never be tailored to your character. In most cases, these talk about weddings, stories about marriage, and the likes. Among these is the spirit of the speech. They were made to be generic and sound like it, and although they present a very good option, they’re not exactly the ones you’d want your family hear. Second is the natural tendency of these speeches to sound too structured. Although they may seem perfect for the occasion, they don’t fit the audience well. If the audience doesn’t related with your speech, it’ll either be unforgettable or just plainly boring. For a final speech, yours should be able to prepare the crowd for the celebrations that follow.
You’re best option is to come up with a speech that you wrote yourself. But how can you do that?
Refrain from thinking about the wedding first. If you do, you’ll have lesser problems figuring out what to say, then you can focus on the more important things, such as remembering your memories about the bride and groom or a little funny anedoctate. So don’t stress out even if you’re already running behind schedule.
Next, make a list of things that you want to incorporate in your speech. These could include anything from a funny childhood anecdote to the groom’s future prospects, with a funny twist of course.
There are things that shouldn’t be missing in your speech such dates (when the couple begun dating), things which significantly affect the couple, an amusing insight into the groom’s character, and maybe a short background of the bride. You can also include a funny anecdote about the groom which really happened. When it comes to ex-girlfriends, it is okay to talk about them in your speech as long as they do not go beyond good taste and so long as the groom gave you his consent. You may also reveal some secrets about how the groom is like as a person, a friend, a co-worker, or a brother. Revealing your thoughts about the groom as a husband and perhaps as a father may also be given a twist that the audience would surely love.
Once you’ve collected all the details you want to include in your speech, start writing it down. Your introductory line should be the first to come up, maybe you can use a thank you or a return of the toast to the speaker who spoke before you. Then thank the audience for coming. After this, you can offer a toast to the couple’s parents and express your appreciation on behalf of the couple. Proceed to the rest of your speech. From time to time, crack a joke or say a funny one liner. Give them a final toast along with a short ‘wish you all the best’ wish and that’s it.
Once you’re done writing the best man wedding speech, ask one of your friends to review it and for some constructive criticisms. If you are satisfied with his reactions, you’re finished. If not, you can have it edited.
